Today’s Thought

I sometimes wonder why I chose college. I had other choices, working 8-5 somewhere, joining the military, being a bum…but I chose college. So now I sit and wonder, What inside of me made me decide to go to a local university that I know nothing about and major in mechanical engineering? And this is the answer I have:

I chose UTSA because its the only school close to home that I know remotely anything about. And, I chose mechanical engineering because its what my dad studied in college 25 years ago and I like what he does for a living. Is this good criteria for choosing where you’re going to prepare yourself for life? Probably not the best way, but its what I’m going with. See, I’ve come to conclude that no matter what I study or where I study it, God will use that in someway to further His kingdom as long as I am willing to be apart of it. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

God knows now what my education will be used for. If I choose to be an engineering major, then God will use that, if I chose to study writing composition, God will use that. I find peace in this, because then I need not worry about whether or not I’m going to school for the right thing, because God can and will use whatever it may be to glorify Him.

So my prayer tonight is this. I pray that whatever I choose to be in life, that I do it for You Lord. Father I pray that I would seek heavenly things in all I do with my life. I pray that in all things I do, now and forever, that they would be what You desire them to be. Help me to have a humble heart when it comes to being a servant for and of You. Help me to put down my pride and take up the full armor of Christ to do what I am called to do. Lord I trust that with this prayer You will prepare me to be a man clothed with Your strength, truth, righteousness, and power so as to show Your glory to all. Lord I thank you for all that you give me, and I pray that all I have and all I do will be in the mindset of serving You.

Good post Cory. Glad you’re on the WordPress bangwagon now. And did you notice that at the bottom of our pages is a tiny smiley face? It must be part of the format. :)
