Rubik’s Cube Solution- Part 1

There are many ways to begin solving a Rubik’s Cube. Some methods are for the speed-cubers and some are simple for those just beginning- like mine. This solution guide will be in parts, so check back for updates and the next steps.

This first step isn’t really algorithm based, it’s more of a find the solution yourself step. I say this because you have a lot of liberty in moving pieces since you have nothing to mess up at this point.

So step one is taking a cube that looks like this:

Scrambled cube

And making it look like this:
X on top
X on top
Choose one color, I choose white, and make into what is called the top layer or the U face of your cube. Knowing that the center cubie doesn’t move, make an X shape with the white corner pieces around the white center.

One thing you must keep in mind is that not only are you putting the white corners in place, but the other colors must line up too. For instance, in my picture you see that the white X is made, and that the front face has the red corners on the same side too.

It should be that when you have your X on the top face, that when you turn the cube you see that the white corners also have lined up the reds and blues and greens and oranges.

Next, you will fill in the edge pieces on the white side. Again, I will include no algorithm, simply because itll help you find how the cube moves and help you to figure the simple things out yourself.

When this is done, your first layer will be complete, looking something like this:

Completed First Layer
Completed First Layer

This will complete step one. Do notice that once my white side is complete, that on my right side I have a layer of green and on my left side a layer of orange. This should be true all the way around your first layer. If not, go back and make the proper arangements so that they do.
